ZANZIBAR DOMINO

A spiraling skyscraper emerging from a manmade island off the west coast of Tanzania’s Zanzibar archipelago, the Zanzibar Domino Commercial Tower resembles the buildings you could imagine seeing in a mythical underwater city such as Atlantis. The building takes design inspiration from the shape of stacked dominoes and includes 360 “keys” that complete the spiral. Aiming to become a world-renowned tourist destination, the project aspires to include leisure, entertainment, retail, and residential programs. Other intended amenities include a golf course, wedding chapel, spa facilities, and hotel accommodations. Believe it or not, while the building's original plans were drafted in Paris, original development plans may have seen it find its home in Vietnam or Saudi Arabia. Alas, as plans for the other two locations fail to come to fruition, it is clear that this building’s home deserves to be right on the water.
