THE WORLD’S FIRST FLOATING ISLAND CITY

Floating islands are slated as one of the best options to help locations worldwide that are most likely to be affected by rising sea levels caused by climate change. In the Maldives, we might soon see the first entirely floating island community! Officials from the island nation's administration have declared plans to construct this ambitious yet sustainable urban project. Maldives Floating City (MFC) is the name of the project, and it will be built within minutes from Male, the capital. The Brain coral influenced MFC's shape, which will be a succession of honeycomb-like hexagonal maze rows. Thousands of beachfront houses will float across a 200-hectare lagoon on a flexible, efficient grid. The floating row system is anchored to a ring of islands that serves as both the foundation and a stabilizing breaker wall.
